Asterisk projects can be shared and edited directly on the web without out the need for any desktop applications. However the creation of new massing requires external 3d modeling applications which are interact with the web application via desktop clients.
Asterisk currently supports Rhino 3D & Grasshopper 3D.
Once logged in navigate to the the User dropdown and expand it, scroll down and select Download
Download and install the desktop clients for Rhinoceros 3d and Grasshopper 3d
Follow the Installation instruction PDF's contained in each folder:
Asterisk_InstallationInstructions_Rhino.pdf
Asterisk_InstallationInstructions_Grasshopper.pdf
Note: When unzipping each of the downloads, please make sure to save the folders and contents to a location on your computer that you can access again, and do not delete the folders (such as C:\Asterisk\
or another similar subfolder). The plugins may not load if the dependencies are not located in the same folder as the plugins.
In Rhino command line, type Asterisk
and hit enter to launch the Asterisk Client.
This will launch the application with a link to Rhino.
You are now ready to create a new project and upload a massing model.
